Hohenems Schubertiade

26.04.2013 - 08.10.2013 – Hohenems
A festival for Franz Schubert which would accord him his due place alongside Mozart and Beethoven – this was the idea behind the first Schubertiade, which was founded by Hermann Prey in 1976 in the small town of Hohenems situated in the most western part of Austria.
As the Schubertiade's media partner, the Swiss music journal »Musik & Theater« will accompany the festival with a series of editoral features. The first article was published in the March issue and focuses on pianist Igor Levit, wo will play a total of three concerts at the Schubertiade in 2013; the April issue portrays the string quartet ensemble Cuarteto Casals, who make their next Schubertiade appearance on May 1 in Hohenems. A festival portrait and an interview with the Schubertiade's managing director Gerd Nachbauer are to follow.
